Privacy policy
Draft. Have this policy reviewed before publishing, and keep it in step with the Play Store data-safety form and the App Store privacy labels.
What we collect
- Account: name, handle, email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash), profile photo and bio. If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your account ID, name, email address and profile photo from them.
- What you post: memes (images, videos, audio, text), captions, tags, comments, reactions, reposts, saves, follows, blocks and reports.
- Technical: IP address and device details in server logs, used for security and abuse prevention, and which memes you've viewed, used to count views.
- Ads: the app shows ads from Google AdMob between memes. Google may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address and how you interact with ads, to show and measure them. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA and UK) we ask for your consent first, and you can change your choice any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices. On iPhone, ads are personalised only if you allow tracking.
We remove location and camera details (EXIF) from photos when you upload them.
How we use it
- To run LolZap: your profile, feeds, notifications and search.
- To keep it safe: moderation, spam and abuse prevention, and enforcing our guidelines.
- To send account emails such as verification and password-reset codes.
We don't sell your personal data. Ads keep LolZap free; we never give advertisers your profile, posts or email address.
Who processes it for us
- Hetzner: servers and database, in the EU.
- Cloudflare: media storage, video streaming and network.
- Google and Meta: only if you choose to sign in with them.
- Google AdMob: ads in the app (see Google's how Google uses information from apps that use its services).
- Our email provider: to deliver account emails.
What's public
Your name, handle, photo, bio, memes, comments, reposts and follower counts are visible to everyone, including through shared links.
Keeping and deleting
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, your profile and content disappear from the service straight away, their files are deleted within a day, and they leave our backups within 60 days. We may keep records of serious violations where the law requires it.
Your rights
You can see and edit your profile in the app. To get a copy of your data, or to ask us to correct or delete it, email privacy@lolzap.com.
Children
LolZap isn't for children under 13. If we learn an account belongs to a child under 13, we delete it.
